If your circumstances have changed (for example, buying a new bike) there may be other options available that mean you don't have to cancel.
Your refund options when your policy is cancelled will depend on how long you’ve had your insurance policy. You may also be charged a cancellation fee. Your No Claims Bonus (NCB) and other extras such as breakdown cover will also be affected.
The first 14 days (your 'cooling off period')
If it's been less than 14 days since you bought the policy or since you received your policy documentation (whichever is later), you are entitled to a refund of the premium. This is referred to as your 'cooling off period' and you are entitled to this by UK law.
You may need to pay an administration fee, and your insurer will charge you for the length of time you were covered.
After your 14-day cooling off period
If it's been more than 14 days since you bought the policy or since your received your policy documents (whichever is later), you should be given a refund for the cost of your policy and any unused premiums.
You’ll be charged a cancellation fee, and your insurer will charge you for the length of time you were covered.
If there's been a claim or accident on your policy
You'll need to pay the full premium for the year - we cannot offer a refund after a claim.
No Claims Bonus (NCB), breakdown cover and other extras
If you cancel your policy before the end of the year, you won’t receive your No Claims Bonus for the year. Any additional cover options on your policy (for example, breakdown cover or personal accident cover) will also come to an end.
