Can I drive in the EU after Brexit?
Until recently, UK drivers entering the EU needed a Green Card to guarantee that the motorist had the necessary minimum motor insurance cover for driving in the country being travelled to.
However, from 2 August 2021, UK motorists entering the EU will not need a Green Card.
You'll still need to ensure you're legally covered if you’re planning on driving in the EU. Please check your policy documents to find out what you’re covered for.
Is there a limit to how long I can drive abroad for?
The length of time you can drive abroad depends on the insurer and can be covered for 30-90 days. You can find out how long you're covered for in your Policy Schedule.
If you are looking to travel abroad for longer than your entitlement, please get in touch.
Is there a limit to the countries I can visit?
A list of the places that you can visit can be found on the back of your Certificate of Motor Insurance, and this should be taken with you on your trip.
If you're going to travel to a country which is not listed in your Policy Schedule, please get in touch.
What happens if I break down while I'm abroad?
Our policies include UK and European breakdown cover as standard. This means that, if you break down in any EU country on a trip lasting up to 90 days, we'll be there to help.
