This depends on whether you have our Protected No Claims Bonus on your policy.
Customers without Protected No Claims Bonus
Your No Claims Bonus (NCB) will be reduced while your claim is processed.
If your claim is settled on a non-fault basis (ie. you were deemed not to be at fault in the incident), your No Claims Bonus will be reinstated to its original status prior to the accident, once your insurance company has made a full recovery from the third-party's insurer. The timescales for this can depend on the circumstances of the incident.
If you have Protected No Claims Bonus
Protected No Claims Bonus safeguards your No Claims Bonus. This means that even if you were to make a claim, your No Claims Bonus may not be affected. Please check your policy documents to find out how many claims you can have before your No Claims Bonus is affected.
However, a claim or pending claim can make a difference to your policy premium.
Whilst a fault claim may still increase your premium the following year, the discount you receive on that total premium will remain the same.
If your renewal is due before your No Claims Bonus is reinstated, it will be based on the reduced No Claims Bonus. However, once your insurer notifies us to reinstate it, your policy will be recalculated and any overpayment will be refunded.
